Groups for the 2017-18 Ministry Year
“. . . that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.” (Col. 1:28b NIV)
Our focus at Hope is to make disciples who make disciples and to see everyone grow and mature in Christ. We have two types of groups that are great places for doing just that—to connect and share life with others so that we can all become more like Jesus.
Below you will find an overview of the two different types of groups and a link to view the schedules and more detailed descriptions. You aren’t restricted to just one type of group—many in our community are part of both a Discipleship Group and an Affinity Group.
If you have any questions, you can contact a group leader directly (contact information is provided with the group descriptions and schedules) or contact Anna McMichael, Director of Community Life.
The purpose of Discipleship Groups is to help people grow to become more like Christ in the context of friendship and fellowship. These groups are open, meaning new members are welcome at any time.
Whether you are just getting acquainted with Jesus or having been walking with Him for decades, Discipleship Groups are for you! Our desire is to follow Jesus in all areas of life, and learning from people who are at different stages of the journey is a wonderful way to grow together.
The general format for all Discipleship Groups at Hope is the same, and follows a progression of three moves. After the scripture is read, questions are discussed that begin with the head level (observations and facts), then move to the heart level (how you relate to the passage), and end with the hand level (applying the lessons).

We have a variety of excellent Affinity Groups at Hope, which are great places to connect with others while studying a certain topic, pursuing a hobby, or sharing a meal. While these groups vary in format, they all offer connection to the body of Christ, including spiritual support and encouragement, praying and caring for one another, and meeting needs in practical ways.
