1ST SUNDAY OF ADVENT | 9AM SUNDAY WORSHIP | DECEMBER 3. C. S. Lewis wrote, “We may ignore, but we can nowhere evade the presence of God. The world is crowded with Him.” Yet the fast pace of December can easily crowd out our experience of God’s presence. May this year be different! Join us at 9 a.m. each Sunday this month as we greet one another, sing praise, light candles, pray, rest in silence, come to the table and ponder a few of the gifts that Jesus brings to us. This Sunday, the 1st Sunday of Advent, Lead Pastor Dean Wertz will facilitate the ministry of God’s Word as we marvel at the exceedingly undeserved gift of God’s presence! CHILDREN’S MINISTRY.
Children’s Church – All kids ages 3 yrs old – 5th grade are invited to join us in Children’s Church this Sunday. Each week of Advent, we will be unwrapping special gifts from Jesus. This 1st Sunday of the month, we will be focusing on the gift of Jesus’ presence and learning about the meaning of His name, Immanuel = God is with us.
Nursery – Childcare for babies and toddlers, ages 0-3, is available this Sunday every 1st and 3rd Sunday.
Children’s Choir – Choir rehearsal this week from 10:15-10:45. If you are in preschool or elementary and would still like to join, please contact Kelsey Hoot.
YOUTH. Thank you so much to all the students, parents, and friends that made our most recent Laser Tag Night such a success! We enjoyed every minute of wild crazy fun with you all.
Youth Group will resume on the 2nd Sunday, December 10 from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. in the youth room – but we are cancelling our 4th Sunday gathering for Christmas Eve! Enjoy time with your families this holiday season.
CHRISTMAS EVE @ HOPE. Mark your calendars for two unique services on Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24. Feel free to attend either or both services as your family plans allow. We are excited to share in this special time of year with you all!
9 a.m. Sunday Worship. The morning service will include singing, lighting the Advent candles, our children’s choir and a Christ-exalting message.
6 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight Celebration. The evening service will feature Christmas music throughout and carols by candlelight at the end of the night. The message time will be a brief Jesus-exalting message, perfect for friends and family who may not be regular church-goers. 
CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE. If you are looking for an opportunity to bless kids in a local school this Christmas season, please stop by our Giving Tree in the foyer. There you will find ornaments labeled with a gift or gift card for a specific child or family at Asbury Elementary, who otherwise might go without a special gift or meal this Christmas. Gift requests range from $5 – $50, so there is something for everyone. You can select an ornament of your choice, purchase the gift on the label, and return (unwrapped) to the dropbox in the foyer by December 12. CHRISTMAS MUSIC! If you enjoy singing four-part harmony, can read the notes in the Hymnal, and would like to bless Hope’s family with dulcet tones, we are planning on singing a few traditional Christmas songs on Christmas Eve together, a Capella. Please email Joel and let him know your vocal range, and he will send you our song list and provide you with the sheet music to practice in advance.
CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON FOR SENIOR WOMEN & FRIENDS. During this beautiful and joyful Christmas season we remember and rejoice at the birth of our Savior! FINANCIAL UPDATE. Last month, our income and expenses were almost break-even. This month, our income was significantly higher than our expenses due so may people’s generousity and God prompting a household within our community to give an extra generous one-time gift.
