THERE’S STILL TIME TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE!
If you are looking for an opportunity to bless kids in a local school this Christmas season, please stop by our Giving Tree in the foyer. There you will find ornaments labeled with a gift or gift card for a specific child or family at Asbury Elementary, who otherwise might go without a special gift or meal this Christmas. Gift requests range from $5 – $50, so there is something for everyone (seven opportunities remain as of mid-week/13 have been “adopted”). Thank you, Hope! Once you select an ornament of your choice, purchase the gift on the label, and return (unwrapped) to the dropbox in the foyer by December 12. If you have any questions, or would like to participate in the Giving Tree remotely, please contact Becky.
2ND SUNDAY OF ADVENT | 9AM SUNDAY WORSHIP | DECEMBER 10. In 700 B.C. it was announced, “Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end.” If Jesus is the fulfillment of this prophecy, where is the increase of His influence? Where is unending peace? Join us this Sunday at 9 a.m. to sing, pray, light Advent candles and consider what the promised gift of Christ’s governance looked like in the 1st century, what it looks like today and what it will look like in the days to come. Join us for a message from Pastor Dean titled and Jesus’ Gifts to Us: God’s Leadership based on Isaiah 9:6-7. If you are unable to join us in person, please visit the 9 a.m. livestream or view the sermon recording here.
HOPE GROUPS. We are so thankful for all the Sunday service assistance from our wonderful Hope Groups. This Sunday, we thank the On Campus Hope Group for helping! Hope Groups are an amazing way to connect to others, deepen your relationship with God, and discover there is a family here for you at Hope. CHILDREN’S MINISTRY.
Children’s Church. Ages 3 yrs old – 5th grade. This 2nd Sunday of Advent, we will be unwrapping Jesus’ gift of Leadership. When it was foretold that Jesus would sit on the throne and be king, many people expected him to be like other rulers who just wanted power, influence, and control. We are going to learn this week how Jesus was a different kind of leader and how he teaches us to lead like him. Included in this lesson will be opportunities for kids to take turns leading. Kids, come ready with your favorite inside group game ideas!
Family Advent Resources. Advent devotionals and family activities are available for check out at our lending library in the foyer. Families of all ages are invited to take advantage of these great resources for Advent.
YOUTH. Youth Group will resume this Sunday, December 10 from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. in the youth room – but we are cancelling our 4th Sunday gathering for Christmas Eve. Instead, join us on Friday, December 29 for a Christmas Movie Night from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hope, where we’ll vote on a movie and enjoy hot chocolate, candy canes and gingerbread! If you’d like to RSVP or have questions, email Tara.
CHRISTMAS EVE @ HOPE. Mark your calendars for two unique services on Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24. Feel free to attend either or both services as your family plans allow. We are excited to share in this special time of year with you all!
9 a.m. Sunday Worship. The morning service will include singing, lighting the Advent candles, our children’s choir and a Christ-exalting message.
6 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight Celebration. The evening service will feature Christmas music throughout and carols by candlelight at the end of the night. The message time will be a brief Jesus-exalting message, perfect for friends and family who may not be regular church-goers.
CHRISTMAS MUSIC! If you enjoy singing four-part harmony, can read the notes in the Hymnal, and would like to bless Hope’s family with dulcet tones, we are planning on singing a few traditional Christmas songs on Christmas Eve together, a Capella. Please email Joel and let him know your vocal range, and he will send you our song list and provide you with the sheet music to practice in advance.
THIS SUNDAY | SHANKS’ CHRISTMAS PARTY. John and Cecille Shanks would like to extend a warm invitation to all of Hope Church to their Christmas Party this Sunday December 10 at 3 p.m. More details will be shared this coming Sunday service, but if you’re interested or would like to RSVP you can email John.
