Dear Hope,
I would like to extend an enormous thank-you to everyone who was able to attend our All-Church Meeting following our service two weeks ago, we are so thankful for your support. For those of you who were unable to make it, here are a few highlights of the information that was shared:
– Membership
In 2023, we were so happy to celebrate the addition of four new members with Hope. We also enjoyed a very successful Membership Renewal in which nearly all of our existing members formally recommitted their partnership to Hope. We look forward to continuing to grow, gather, give, and go as a united body of believers in 2024.
– Elders
Our current elder board consists of Dan Kaskubar (Chair), Dean Wertz, Rob Cupp, and John Shanks. A vote-of-confidence for Dan and Rob came back with approval, so they will remain on for another 3-year term. The Elder Chair is an annual role filled by a non-staff elder, and this will be shifting from Dan Kaskubar to John Shanks beginning in March, 2024. The New Elder Vote for Arik Stewart had a 100% response rate of a resounding “Yes” – so he is now officially an Elder. Congratulations, Airk!
– Financial Report
Arik shared our financial report and all were greatly encouraged. See his written summary with this month’s financial snapshot below.
Thank you again to everyone who contributed to this valuable time together. Dean has begun his 6-week sabbatical and will return by Palm Sunday, March 24. Until then, if you have any questions or concerns about any of this information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself (Tara), Arik as Executive Pastor, or any member of the elder board.

TODAY | SERVICE FOR PAULINE HAINES. Please join us at Hope Church, today, February 16 at 11 a.m. to honor the life of Pauline Haines. Following the service, there will be a reception in the Reception Hall downstairs.
FEBRUARY 18 | 9AM WORSHIP & COMMUNION. Life is full of ups and downs, with moments of great pleasure and deep suffering and pain. Our world often tries to ignore this suffering with excess, or buries itself in despair – but how does God call us to respond to suffering? What ways does Peter instruct us to walk through suffering with Christ? Join us this Sunday as Ministry Coordinator Tara Farrell brings us a message from 1 Peter in our series on Gentleness: A Beautiful Way in a Chaotic World. If you are unable to join us in person, please visit the 9 a.m. livestream or view the sermon recording here. As a reminder, all past sermon recordings are available online.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY.
Children’s Church. This 3rd Sunday of February, kids 3 yrs old – 5th grade are invited to Children’s Church. We are beginning a 5-week Lenten study, called “Walk His Ways” based on the parables of Jesus. This Sunday, children will experience the Parable of the Two Sons story, discussing the difference between saying you’ll do something and actually doing it. For more information on how to make the Lenten season meaningful for kids, this is a simple resource that provides a simple background on Lent and ideas for engaging kids in the all the events and anticipation leading up to Jesus’ resurrection.
Nursery – The nursery is available this week, and every 1st and 3rd Sunday, for younger children, 0-2 yrs old. Parents, please check your child in and Kids Check-In prior to walking them back to the nursery.
For any questions regarding Children’s Ministry policies and procedures or interest in volunteering, please contact Becky Newquist.
MARCH 2 | RECLAMATION CHILI COOK-OFF & GAME NIGHT. Our tenant church, Reclamation, will be having a chili cook-off and game night March 2 in the Hope Commons space starting at 6:00 p.m. They have kindly invited Hope Church to attend, play games, and enjoy chili! If you have any questions, reach out to Arik Stewart.
FINANCIAL UPDATE. In September, our income and expenses were almost the same. In October, our income was significantly higher than our expenses due to a significant gift. In November, our income was slightly higher than our expenses. In December, our income was significantly higher than our expenses due to year-end gifts. In January, our income was slightly higher than our expenses due to a few residual year-end gifts. Overall, our normal giving has been slightly less than our budgeted amount, our extra giving—including the gifts in October and December—is above budget, and our expenses are slightly under budget. We continue to be in a cash-positive position in the first half of this ministry year. Thank you, Lord for continuing to provide financial peace! We thank God for the many households who give generously and consistently to Hope Church, resourcing us to fulfill Christ’s mission and vision in our community and around the world! You can give online here, by mailing a check to 1801 S. Logan St. Denver, CO 80210, or by using the offering boxes in the sanctuary.
