Our Fall Festival is Sunday! Please invite friends, family & neighbors!
9AM SUNDAY WORSHIP | OCTOBER 29. The identifying symbol for Christ and His followers is the cross. A vertical and a horizontal beam. Engraved in marble, forged from gold, embossed in leather, carved from wood and suspended before worshipers. Like the silhouette of an electric chair, a hangman’s noose or a guillotine, the Roman cross is an emblem of suffering and shame. Who was responsible for the death of Jesus? Why did He die on a cross? What relevance does His crucifixion have for us today? Join us this Sunday at 9 a.m. as we discover the answers to these questions from an inspired source provided 700 years in advance of the crucifixion of Jesus. Our message this week (from Lead Pastor Dean Wertz) is titled The Relevance of the Crucifixion and is based on Isaiah 53:2-12. We look forward to seeing you! If you are unable to join us in person, please visit the 9 a.m. livestream or view the sermon recording here.
THIS SUNDAY! COAT DRIVE. Let’s help our new neighbors! Many refugees who have just relocated to Denver are in need of winter coats, hats, and gloves. We are partnering with Lutheran Family Services, a nonprofit that helps refugee families secure housing and supply basic necessities. They are in great need of items to keep them warm this winter. Please bring your gently used and clean winter coats (all sizes!), hats, and gloves to our Fall Fest on Sunday, October 29. If you are unable to attend the Fall Fest, there will be a Coat Drive basket for donations Sunday morning as well. Donations will be delivered to families Monday, October 30. Thank you in advance for your generous donations!
HOPE GROUPS. We are so thankful for all the Sunday service assistance from our wonderful Hope Groups. This Sunday, we thank the Platt Park Hope Group for helping! Hope Groups are an amazing way to connect to others, deepen your relationship with God, and discover there is a family here for you at Hope. If this sounds like something you are interested in, we’d love to have you join us! Click here for more information on all our Hope Groups.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY.
Children’s Church – Calling all kids, 3 yrs old – 5th grade! We would love for you to join us for Children’s Church this 5th Sunday of the month following worship. This week’s lesson and activities will be geared around the special friendship God designed for us to experience with one another, our church family.
Children’s Choir – We invite all to join us November 5 to hear our Children’s Choir sing “My Lighthouse” during the Sunday service! The kids’ choir will have one more rehearsal this Sunday, October 29 from10:15-10:45.a.m.
YOUTH. Parents and students – don’t forget to join us this Sunday at the Fall Festival! The Youth will have their own category for judging the costume contest, and there’s a prize for the youth student with the best costume! Also, we are rescheduling our skipped youth group – so join us next Sunday, November 5 for snacks, discussion, and games! We will be having youth group twice in a row that month – both November 5 and November 12 to make up for lost time. Can’t wait to see you all there!
FINANCIAL UPDATE. Thank you to everyone who participated in our ministry year vision and budget process this past summer and to everyone who has generously given to Hope Church! We are excited to announce that after many months of having more expenses than income and having to draw from savings, our expenses and income were almost break even in September. Thank you, Lord for providing financial peace! If you have any questions about Hope’s financials, please contact Arik Stewart.
SUNDAY RECORDING ACCESS. Although our 9 a.m. livestream will continue to stream the full Sunday service, please note that our website recordings will now only include the Sunday sermon. Currently, we are unable to record our worship music at the same level of quality as is experienced in-person through the sanctuary speakers. Once we are able to match the quality of the music in-person over livestream, we hope to once again include the full service in the recorded posting. If you are in the pattern of worshiping via the full recorded version of the service and would like to have continued access to that, please reach out to Becky Walker. Thank you for all those who support Hope via livestream and online!
FOOD BANK | LOOKING FOR A WAY TO SERVE? The Community Ministry is in need of the following items: Jelly, Pie Crust Mix, Cake, Frosting, Cream of Mushroom Soup, Pumpkin, Canned Potatoes, and Evaporated or Sweetened Condensed Milk. Please consider donating these items by placing them in the collection basket in the foyer. Thank you, Hope!
