THANK YOU!
Last Saturday morning many of you volunteered to serve alongside our partners at Church of the Risen Lord. Friendships were formed, weeds were removed, hedges were trimmed, lawns were mowed and their campus was beautified. You showed up and Jesus served through you – thank you Hope! This week we received the following note from their pastor, Dennis Noble.

“Dear everyone from Hope who came out last Saturday to help with our yards,
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU SO YOU MUCH – ALL OF YOU WERE A TREMENDOUS HELP!!!
We praise the Lord for you,
Dennis, for our Church of the Risen Lord”

9 AM SUNDAY | AUGUST 28Living in the world we live in; it is easy to fall into a “side” of an argument or discussion. This ease often causes divisions and breaking in relationships.  Unfortunately, even in the early days of Christianity, this breaking and division began to happen in the Church. But in 1 Corinthians, Paul begins to lay out the beautiful possibility that we can have a change of mind and live in unity with all who “are being saved” by Christ and His Gospel Message. Not only is this possible, but it is God’s desire and plan to have our relationships reconciled and be fully united in Him. Join us this Sunday at 9 a.m. to worship God and learn from our 3rd message from 1 Corinthians entitled, Boast in Our Lord Alone. We look forward to gathering with you in person or online as Rob Cupp continues the series “In Christ in Culture.” See you Sunday!

HOSTING. This week’s Sunday Gathering will be hosted by the Aurora Hope Group. If you are looking to connect with a group, click here!

SERVICE RECORDING UPDATE. Beginning this week, the recorded Sunday Service will be available on Hope’s website by noon on Monday. The Livestream will continue to be available at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

MINISTRY YEAR 2023 BUDGET APPROVED. Thank you to everyone who prayerfully considered our plans for Ministry Year 2023, gave input on our vision, and voted on our proposed budget. Our budget has been approved and our plans will commence on September 1. If you have any additional input or questions, please contact our Executive Pastor Arik Stewart.

6-WEEK SABBATICAL. Dear Hope, Sabbaticals are built into Hope’s Lead Pastor’s role each 5 years for the purpose of rest and refreshment. I’m writing to let you know that the elders have approved a six-week sabbatical for me from Sunday August 28 through Saturday October 8. I am grateful to our elders, staff and all of you for loving and caring for my family and me in this and so many ways! Thank you for your prayer and support during this break. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions to make things run smoothly before, during and / or after the sabbatical. Love, Dean

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY. This 4th Sunday is Family Sunday, so there will be no Children’s Church. Children are invited to worship together with their families and our intergenerational congregation. Please stop by the welcome booth at the back of the sanctuary for resources to help children engage with worship and teaching.

If you would like to prepare before Sunday, this resource

offers several strategies for engaging children in the worship service, along with biblical teaching from John Piper on the powerful value of including children in corporate worship alongside their parents.

Other Children’s Ministry happenings

  • Children’s Choir* – Under the leadership of our new intern, Kelsey Hoot, Hope will be starting a Children’s Choir this fall!
  • Parents in Prayer* – We are excited to kick off a monthly prayer gathering of parents (and spiritual parents) who want to stand in the gap for the next generation and pray God’s promises over their children and the children of the nations.

*If you haven’t already, please stop by the Kids’ Check-In or click here

to print surveys regarding interest and availability for both of these upcoming opportunities. Stay tuned for more information!

YOUTH. This Sunday we are having our Beach Party at Chatfield State Park! Following the Service, students will carpool to Chatfield State Park to play games, water sports, swim, and enjoy the beach! Hope will be providing water bottles, snacks, and equipment. Please have students bring their own swimsuits, towels, sun protection and sack lunch. Feel free to invite all your friends! Then, older students are welcome to drive younger students’ home, or staff and volunteers can provide transportation home as well.
