We continue our journey to the cross with Christ, as Jesus is warned that Herod may take his life. In the city that kills the prophets of God, Jesus is moved with compassion for the people and remains committed to his mission of redemption and salvation.
While the focus of Christmas ends for many people on Dec. 26, throughout Christian history Christmas lasts for twelve days – all the way through January 6. This day, marking the end of Christmas, is called Epiphany. Today, the Lead Pastor and our good friend from Bloom Church, David Blankenship, brings the message celebrating the revelation of Jesus as the Son of God by focusing on this coming of the Three Wise Men.
Like King David. we all have times when we love, worship and rejoice in God AND we have seasons when we would rather live on our own seeking joy and pleasure apart from God and His ways. On this 5th Sunday of Lent we discover that Psalm 51 is so much more than a prayer for guilty sinners whose transgressions have been exposed. Psalm 51 is a prayer of intimacy and honesty with God who loves us, knows us and remains with us both when we worship and when we wander.
