After his mysterious dream beside the Nike River, Pharaoh’s “spirit was troubled” because confusion troubles the soul. What Pharaoh didn’t know when he woke up perplexed was
that God was carrying out His good plan. The Holy Spirit soon revealed to Joseph and then to Pharaoh the plan which provided discernment for the attentive listener, peace for the troubled soul and nourishment for the hungry world.

The compass, map, owner’s manual, Siri and the Bible have this in common – they show the way. Yet, better than a map is a guide. In this 2nd message in our August series entitled, Gifts for God’s Children, we see Moses’ prayer for direction as well as God’s plan to be his and all of His children’s personal guide in this life and the life to come!
People matter to God and so, as followers of Jesus, people matter to us. Yet, sometimes the needs of people can be overwhelming. Jesus came to love people and at times people’s expectations were different than the Father’s plans for Jesus. As we begin this new year we look to Christ who perfectly discerned the Father’s relational priorities and seek wisdom from God to help us do the same.
Slavery, hunger, sex trafficking, addictions, broken relationships… Have you noticed how many things on our globe are not as they should be? When God decides it is time to renovate a portion of earth so it looks more like heaven He typically does so through His children. Nehemiah wept, prayed and worked with God and others to overturn the “great trouble and shame” in Jerusalem. He embraced God’s assignment for his generation. Will you listen and trust God to do the same for yours?
Everyone has pressures & priorities. God made us to live according to His priorities not people’s pressures. This last Sunday of the year is a great time to remember that our marching orders are clear. We are commanded to love God, love our neighbors and love one another.
Don’t waste your life! Israel wandered for 40 years because they doubted God’s command to conquer Canaan. Listen to God’s clear and loving voice and trust Him by doing what He commands and promises. In this you will chose life. In this you will not waste your life!
